Business information

In the Netherlands, between 90 and 95 per cent of all companies are classified as Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs or SMBs). It should therefore come as no surprise that the SME sector is one the NMa's most important target groups, as it is imperative that SMEs are completely aware of what is allowed and what is prohibited under the Dutch Competition Act with regard to cooperation between companies.

The NMa has drawn up guidelines, called Guidelines on Cooperation between Undertakings, which explain in which cases and under which circumstances undertakings can or cannot cooperate under the Competition Act.

In addition, SMEs can file complaints with the NMa concerning cartels, the abuse of dominant positions, or other possible violations of the Competition Act. Also, the SME sector is a key partner in exchanging information.
